Address: Plac Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego , 00-999 Warszawa
Memorial site located on the square of the march. Józef Piłsudski in Warsaw, whose idea is to commemorate soldiers who died in the fight for Poland's independence. The creator of the grave was the sculptor Stanisław Kazimierz Ostrowski. In Poland, the first initiatives to create a place to commemorate the fallen appeared after World War I in 1921, modeled on the first Tomb of the Unknown Soldier built in Paris in 1920. The Warsaw Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was unveiled on November 2, 1925. That day, during the solemn ceremony, the body of an unnamed soldier was brought to him, brought from the cemetery of the defenders of Lviv. During World War II, the building was blown up and was destroyed. In 1946, however, it was rebuilt and unveiled again. Currently, it belongs to the colonnade of the Saxon Palace. An eternal candle is burning at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw and the honorary guard of the Representative Battalion of the Polish Army is being performed. On public holidays, celebrations with the highest state authorities take place here.
