Address: ul. Gabriela Narutowicza 30 , 96-300 Żyrardów
One of the largest sacred buildings in Mazovia. The church was built in 1900-1903 in the neo-Gothic style according to the design of Józef Pius Dziekoński in the square donated by Count Feliks Sobański. The volume of the building is 12,870 m3 and its towering towers still dominate the entire city today. The prototype of the Żyrardów church is most often the Cologne Cathedral from 1248-1880; The similarity of the form is, however, too general and basically comes down to the two-tower scheme. The layout of the facade of the Church of Our Lady of Consolation in Żyrardów is very similar to the layout of the facade of the Vienna Church, the Votive Church built by Heinrich von Ferstel is distinguished, however, by another material used for construction (stone), a much richer decoration (openwork helmet towers are closer to German architecture - Cologne, Freiburg im Breisgau), and the use of large-scale color effects, especially by arranging a multi-colored pattern of tiles on the roof slopes, which in a specific way harmonizes with the roofs of the Vienna cathedral. Inside the church there are 3 large altars: the main altar in the presbytery was made in 1929-1931 in the studio of Wincenty Bogaczyk from Warsaw (finished with wood, with a very rich sculptural decoration), this altar has the form of a two-tower facade of a Gothic church. From 1903, relics of the martyrs - Saint Victoria and Roman - are kept at the base of the altar.
