It is a city park located in the Wola district of Warsaw. It covers an area of over 8 hectares. It was established on the initiative of the Friends of Wola Society on the instruction of the president of the Capital City Warsaw, Stefan Starzyński. It was opened to the public on August 3, 1936, it was the first public park in workers' Wola. A playground and playgrounds were created here. On November 27, 1937, a monument to General Sowiński (defender of Wola in 1831) was unveiled, which is the work of Tadeusz Breyer. In August 1944, the Nazis murdered about 1,500 people here and burned the corpses of 6,000 victims of the massacre in Wola (i.e. the mass extermination of the inhabitants of the Wola district of Warsaw by the SS and German police in the first days of the Warsaw Uprising). A commemorative plaque commemorates these events. The park was restored after the war, preserving the original composition. In 1964 it was enlarged and an amphitheater was built.
