The only cultural institution in the country documenting the thousand-year history of Jews in Poland. The museum is located in Muranów - in the city center of Warsaw. Its creation dates back to 2005. The impressive, modern edifice of the facility was erected according to the design of the Finnish architect Rainer Mahlamäki in the years 2009–2013. Opposite the building stands a monument to the Ghetto Heroes. The idea of creating a museum was born in the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute. Thanks to the support of donors from around the world in 1995, work began on his project, which lasted 10 years. The funds collected for the investment came from Germany, Great Britain and Poland. Thanks to the generosity of investors, it became possible to gather unique documentation about Polish Jews in the country. Great international support was also obtained. The museum is a public-private institution. It consists of the government, local government and non-governmental organizations. On January 25, 2005, a bill was signed that financed the cost of building the building, its equipment, and the cost of the main exhibition created by qualified experts and culture experts.
