The construction of a stone castle began in 1624 in the style of early Baroque on the order of King Sigismund III Vasa under the direction of architect Matteo Castelli, and was completed during the reign of King Władysław IV. The assumption was to be an unofficial royal residence. During the Deluge, it was destroyed and rebuilt again.
