This is a student club belonging to the Warsaw University of Technology. Stodola has been operating since April 5, 1956. From the very beginning it was the center of Warsaw jazz life. The first three editions of the Jazz Jamboree International Jazz Music Festival took place here (1958, 1959, 1960). In 1964, at the initiative of Jerzy Bojanowski, then the club president, the Traditional Jazz Club was established. Its members organized in the Stodola the so-called "Jazz Fridays". The most famous jazz bands at the time: Big Band "Stodoła", Hagaw, Old Timers, Gold Washboard, Storyville Jazz Band and Vistula River Brass Band had their rehearsals there. At the end of the seventies Polish rock came under the thatched roofs of Stodola. In 1978, Zbigniew Hołdys founded the Super Show and Disco Band, from which Two years later emerged Perfect - the most famous group associated with the club. Perfect performed his rehearsals - like his jazz predecessors - in rehearsal room 06, located in the basement under the main stage. It was this place, decorated with drawings of Jan Sawka, that soon became the rock center of Warsaw. In the eighties and nineties they practiced here, among others such bands as: Collage, Kult, Maanam, Closed Branch, Perfect, Voo Voo, Wilki. Cabaret and film activities were also important in the club's life. First, the "Stodola" Film Discussion Club was established, which for technical reasons operated outside the club (among others in the Iluzjon Cinema), and in 1964 the Realization Film Club, whose activity was largely based on the use of Hybrydy club equipment. In this way, several documentaries and a feature adaptation of Maks Frisch's novel "Let's Gantenbein" were made. In 1973, various student film organizations merged, resulting in the Student Film Center. His headquarters was in Stodola. The new premises are equipped with equipment allowing for professional film production. In the years 1973-1977 dozens of short films were made. Some of them received prizes at national film festivals. For the club's 20th anniversary, Jerzy Karpiński's film "The Procession" was made, which recorded the most important moments in Stodola's history. Today the word "concert" is one of the first associations with Stodola. It is a magical place, playing on stage in Stodola is a kind of distinction for Polish rockers.
