The beginnings of the Royal Castle date back to the 14th century, when the Great Tower was created. He was, among others the residence of the kings and the seat of the Seym of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Today it is the seat of a museum and a center of education, culture and art as well as a place of important state celebrations. Along with the Old Town complex, it is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The apartments of the Castle were recreated in accordance with the function they performed during the time of King Stanisław August (1764 - 1795).
