The open-air museum is located on a picturesque, undulating terrain on the southwestern outskirts of the city, in the Kosówka valley. On the area of 32 ha, over 60 objects of folk architecture were gathered, mainly wooden. The museum presents the culture and construction of the Radom region. The museum's unique collections also include reconstructed buildings today. A nature path has been marked out at the Museum, which runs over the swamps. There is an observation tower above one of the ponds. The museum was founded in 1977 on the outskirts of Radom, gathering the monuments of the district in one place and showing the characteristics of the buildings at that time. From the moment of creation, the main role of the museum is to collect and present monuments of folk architecture, and houses of richer inhabitants (manors). A separate part of the exhibition is an apiculture museum. The oldest of the monuments is the wooden church. St. Dorota from Wolanów (from 1749), whose greatest value is the illusionist polychrome depicting the rich interior of the baroque stone temple. The museum also has a collection of windmills, presenting various types of these buildings. In addition to the buildings, the museum has original dishes, everyday objects, as well as farm animals, including sheep, goats, etc. Thanks to such solutions, younger people can feel the charms of rural life from the beginning of the 20th century in a more real way. The museum also organizes various events, e.g. Bread Festival, Potato Festival or historical staging.
